The Fashion Research group questions the fast fashion with Conexiones 4

Conexiones 4 is an exhibition, encounter and clothes bartering market that arises within the project Durabilidad Material vs. Durabilidad Emocional led by the EASDALCOI research group: Fashion Design, Commitment and Good Practices. Everything will be held this Friday, October 5th, at 7:30 pm in the Colectiva de Xàtiva.

The project aims to connect the world of material relations (clothing) with social relations to enhance the competences of clothing, focusing on the art of successful use that results from the pieces through the accumulation of memories and experiences.

In this way, the concept of sustainability in fashion is analyzed as a broad process that generates knowledge and awareness in the consumption and use of the pieces. It defies the system of ‘fast fashion’ and its industrial interests, bringing to an end the psychological obsolescence and triggering the emotional durability and the longevity of the products.

Conexiones 4 is structured in three events:

-An audiovisual exhibition that gathers the 10 best testimonies (stories about clothing) from a sample of more than 60 videos and photographs taken throughout the three previous editions.

-An encounter in which they intend to continue collecting new and interesting stories related to clothing. For this reason, they suggest the attendees to be dressed with a piece of clothing that holds a special meaning to them. They want to know its story, record it and photograph it.

-A barter of clothes involving the textile waste company Texlimca. They have to bring a piece of clothing that’s easy to get rid of and that they no longer like so they can exchange it with another one belonging to the second collaborating company.
