This Thursday the Escola d’Art i Superior of Disseny d’Alcoi participated in the Forum of Occupation organized by the Alcoi campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València. More specifically, our school provided information about the studies that are taught in our school and also presented the Upcycling Fashion project, which is a collection of clothes from solid fashion waste.
The project has been created thanks to the collaboration with the company Texlimca and ASIRTEX (Iberian Association of Textile Recycling) from where were obtained the pieces to be used with coding methods and supra-recycling strategies. The traceability of the design process is undoubtedly an essential feature in the field of sustainability. Therefore, this project is shown not only as a result that ends with the materialization of a new piece of fashion, but also as a success that challenges the fast fashion industry, taking advantage of the waste itself (generated by the consumers) to be turned into clothing with a new value.
