On January 13, 2017 the exhibition of Rafa Calbo, professor of the department of graphic design, was inaugurated at the hall Arpella in the Municipal Archive of Muro. The exhibition is structured in three series on which he has been working in recent years:
-The series Popular culture, arised from the research: The other painting. The pictorial simulacrum, its industry and its relations-coexistence with the contemporary plastic creation (1950-2010). It is an inquiry based on an artistic-industrial pictorial production popularly called “commercial painting”.
-The series Transreality is based on reflective works on the collective consciousness and the perception of contemporary reality. It is a perception mediated by the “screenism” of our electronic devices and by the mass media that transform and reword superimposed and fragmented “realities”.
-The series Background is based on the superposition of layers of our contemporary existence. A reality that has to be extracted many times from the background of the immediate appearances that hide it.
The exhibition can be visited until February 20, 2017 from Thursday to Saturday. Opening hours: Thursdays and Fridays from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm and Saturdays from 6 pm to 9 pm.
