Last Tuesday, December 3rd, the 3rd and 4th year form Fashion Design students, within the activities planned in the subject of Sustainable Fashion, they visited the textile recycling company Texlimca, based in Alzira and belonging to the association Asirtex (Iberian Association of Textile Recycling).
The Sustainable Fashion subject has been collaborating with this entity for 3 years in different projects and events, including the environmental fair of Canals or the Ecofira de Valencia, the international fair of the most important environmental solutions of Spain.
On this occasion, the visit to the Texlimca company has had two fundamental objectives: the first was to inform students how a textile recycling plant works, and to raise awareness of our future Fashion designers about the need to recycle and find more sustainable design solutions.
The second objective was to carry out an agreement to collaborate in the realization of a new slow fashion project with innovative design strategies such as upcycling. This project will lead to the realization of three prototype garments made from recycled fabrics, second-hand garments and surplus textile factories. Finally, the project will be exhibited and disseminated in the appropriate areas: fairs, exhibitions and congresses.
