The Mecana Sans typography workshop of the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny d’Alcoi (EASDAlcoi) will be announced through a presentation in Cañas & Tipos typeface meeting next Saturday, April 29th, at 6:00 p.m. , in the workshop La Seiscuatro, on Calle Cádiz 7 in Valencia.
The teachers of EASDAlcoi Xelo Garrigós and Jordi Sempere, responsible for Mecana Sans, which promotes and disseminates traditional typography in the academic field of current editorial design, will be in this third edition of the fourth season, which will also participate the graphic and typographic designer, Maria Ramos, who is also part of NM type. She studied the master of design of typographies of the University of Reading 2015 and among her last projects, it is necessary to emphasize Kinectic, a magnificent sans-serif geometric family.
In this third edition of the fourth season, it will continue with the “Tipobingo”, where a pack of graphic material will be raffled, contributed by various typographers and calligraphers related to the Valencian design world: Juanjo López, Rafael Jordán, Joan Quirós, Pablo Bosch, etc.
In addition, attendees will be able to show their own typography, calligraphy or design works to the members of the organization and other participants to generate a debate about them.
Cañas & Tipos
This is an event that has been celebrating for three years, where take part lovers of typography, calligraphy and graphic design which began as an informal gathering of like-minded people around a bar table, to nowadays become an event that offers lectures, raffles, typecrits, book samples and a relaxed atmosphere, in which beer is not lacking as a socializing agent. This typographic meeting generates debate, rigor, friendship and exchange of opinions always in a relaxed, fun and informal atmosphere.
