Pedro Mansilla, a sociologist and fashion journalist, will offer a conference at IVAM CADA organized by EASDAlcoi

The Fashion Department of School of Arts and College of Design of Alcoi has organized a day with Pedro Mansilla, sociologist, journalist, professor and critic specialized in fashion with more than 30 years of experience.

The central event will take place at 12pm at IVAM CADA with the conference ‘Sociology of design and fashion’ in which Mansilla will analyze fashion as a social and collective phenomenon. How trends work, the influence of fashion in other areas of society, its evolution in recent years and the role of the media in it, will be some of the aspects that will be discussed.

Previously he will make a visit to the EASDAlcoi to learn about its facilities and the didactic and formative approaches with which the design works. Then, at 11.30am there will be, at the same School, a press conference open to all the media who want to participate.

Pedro Mansilla has collaborated as an expert in the fashion sector, in media such as Elle, Vogue or Woman magazines, television channels such as Cosmopolitan TV, TVE, Antena 3 or La 2 and in different programs of the Cadena SER.

In addition, he is professor of the Master of Fashion Communication at the universities Francisco de Vitoria, Pompeu Fabra and the IED Madrid. He has been part of the jury of awards such as the National Fashion Design Award and has been curator of numerous exhibitions that have been shown in Milan, London, Moscow, Beirut and Beijing, among others.

In 2013 he published the book ‘Cazadores de Tendencias. Los nombres esenciales de la Moda Española’ in which he reviews the recent history of the spanish catwalks through his most influential creatives.
