The importance of the producer in the world of animation has been one of the conclusions in which have coincided several of the speakers who have taken part in these Animation Conferences made by the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny d’Alcoi during this last week of the year.
Between Monday and this same Thursday, Pablo Llorens, María Trénor, Jaime Maestro and Manu González have passed through our conference hall. And in addition, we also have a table discussion on the professional sector of Valencian animation, which included the participation of Paloma Mora (president of the Valencian Association of Animation Production Companies), César Martí (director of contents of À Punt) and José Luis Moreno (director of CulturArts-IVAC). All of them, professionals with a consolidated trajectory who have shared their experiences and knowledge with our students.
On Monday the alcoyano Pablo Llorens started this conference week speaking about the “secrets” of stop motion in a very animated conference in which there was a very active participation of the audience, which included a live demonstration for all attendees. Later, Llorens taught a more specific modeling workshop and facial expressions of the characters.
On the following day, María Trénor, director of independent and personal short films, explained the work process and stressed the importance of sound in audiovisual works. From his hand, the students could touch a film in 35 mm and also one of the latest models of graphic tablets to draw.
On Wednesday, it was time for Jaime Maestro, founder of the Valencian animation production company La Tribu and director of Animal Crackers, who explained how to work on a 3D animation film. And in the same way on Thursday, Manu González, from Hampa Studio, explained the ease or complexity of carrying out an animation project. Both speakers stressed the importance of having a good script and the need to know how to work as a team. And alongside with María Trénor, all agreed on the importance of the figure of the producer to be able to reach the success in an animation project.
In the discussion table, Paloma Mora, César Martí and José Luis Moreno agreed that it can be said that animation is an emerging industry in the Valencian Community. Even more, in the words of José Luis Moreno, this “is one of the sectors that is giving us the most happiness”. In the case of the director of contents of À Punt Media, César Martí, considered the production of children’s content as one of the priorities of the new Valencian television. On the other hand, Paloma Mora, representative of the Valencian animation production companies, highlighted the importance of the support of the administration in the projects and then be able to go abroad to get more funding. All attendees agreed on the need to internationalize the projects to seek the necessary funding.
After all, the students who participated could know the current keys of this world of animation, since in addition to listening to our speakers throughout the week, they could also take the advantage of this great occasion and ask to the speakers their restlessness and doubts of how to make arrive their projects to producers and public entities.
A very useful conference for all attendees, so we want to thank the speakers for their participation and also all the people who filled the auditorium of our school.
