During the week students of 1st Interior Design of the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny d’Alcoi have learned first-hand how different types of materials are applied in the rehabilitation of a modernist building by the architect Timoteo Briet.
With the rehabilitation of this residential building, which is being done by the VADEBO architecture studio, the essence of Modernism has been maintained, which is evident by the use of hydraulic tiles, as well as by the presence of moldings, baseboards and cornices made of polystyrene. All this with an indirect lighting with LED lights which manage to enhance these decorative elements.
In addition, it is necessary to highlight the introduction of mirrored volumes in the space, a resource which amplifies the rooms and, at the same time, generates a contemporary space. Regarding the divisions and coatings, it was also possible to see the application of hydrophobic plasterboard partitions to preserve the common rooms from humidity such as access to the building.
Finally, the students could also see how facilities are located, such as air conditioning, in which VADEBO has tried to minimize the visual impact.
